Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP therapy is performed in the office under ultrasound guidance to ensure a precise injection site. The treatment involves drawing blood from you in the same way as it would for a blood test and then spinning it for about eight minutes in a centrifuge to produce platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is then drawn into a small syringe and a small amount of calcium chloride is added to stimulate the process. The mixture is then injected into the clean and anesthetized skin. For better results, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is injected into the same areas over three sessions, usually about a month apart.

There are almost no complications with this treatment. However, as with any type of injection, there is a possibility of minor bruising and pink or red skin which usually goes away after a week or so.
